Curtain Call Theatre was started in 1994. Our first production was the Pat Cook comedy, "Three Murders and it’s only Monday" at Montgomery/Lonsdale High School. In 1996 we did our first musical, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat".
Curtain Call Theatre’s season has varied over the years and now consists of three productions:
Our summer show is normally a large cast musical. Performances are either at New Prague High School or in Montgomery at Montgomery-Lonsdale High School.
In February, we present a dinner theatre. For many years this was at Hilltop Hall in Montgomery. Hilltop Hall is a beautifully restored orchestra hall from about 1892, when every community in the area had an orchestra. For 2015, we held this show at Next Chapter Winery, between New Prague and Montgomery. In 2016 we went back to Hilltop Hall. This show is normally a broad comedy. It is typically performed the last two weekends in February.
In December we present our fundraiser cabaret, each year we hope to put out a different theme to mix things up and celebrate how all encompassing music can be.
The Mission of Curtain Call Theatre shall be to provide opportunities for persons of all ages, genders, races, ethnicities, creeds, sexes, religions, and sexual orientations in the communities of New Prague, Montgomery, Lonsdale and the surrounding areas to experience and participate in live theatre; to provide a quality theatre experience for both our audience and for the people that volunteer their time to make it happen; to provide training opportunities in the technical, artistic, and administrative aspects of theatre; to provide a financially stable environment for the theatre; to stage productions which meet our current audience's needs, attract new audience members, and volunteers, and fulfill our niche within our communities; to enhance the cultural environment within our communities; to have fun and enjoy the experience!
